Tailored Treks was established in 2009 by Kumar Karki and his colleague Jigme Lama both of who have more than a decade long experience in trekking and tourism in Nepal. Kumar, a very experienced trekking guide impressively has worked his way from humble beginnings in rural Nepal. Having started life as a porter he decided to train in cooking and hygiene before heading teams of expedition chefs. Whilst working with foreign clients he enjoyed chatting land learning about foreign cultures whilst taking the opportunity to improve his spoken English. He also became skilled in mountain first aid including the identification and prevention of altitude sickness. Eventually after working his way through the ranks Kumar has gained a reputation as a level headed and trustworthy trekking guide. Jigme’s experiences include managing community based tourism projects and responsible tours since last 12 yrs.
